Warehouse TERRADA to Expand Features of Terra sight MARKET to Promote Secondary Use of Video Contents
Making analog content such as cultural, historical, and information assets available to future generations
Warehouse TERRADA expanded the features of Terra sight MARKET, a service enabling users to sell video content saved on our original data content management system, Terra sight, on November 13th, 2021 (Sat).
Our archiving business began as a storage service for video and audio media in 1983. We now hold over 12 million film reels and tapes from some 500 television and video production companies, boasting the top market share in the domestic industry. In 2015, we bolstered our Offline storage service for video, audio and still-image data with Terra sight, our proprietary system for centrally bulk-managing data content online. Terra sight MARKET is a service linked to Terra sight that allows users to sell video content managed on Terra sight at their chosen price. Our patented business model promotes the secondary market for video content while simplifying the cumbersome procedures associated with trading, such as rights processing and contractual agreements.
We have now expanded the features of Terra sight MARKET to include the sale of analog content recorded on film reels and tapes, in addition to the sale of digital content. As analog media degrades over time and the devices used to play it have ceased, there is a growing concern that analog content with cultural and historical value, such as much-loved vintage entertainment shows and documentaries full of historical footage, may never be seen by future generations. By making content available for sale on Terra sight MARKET, analog-content owners gain the opportunity to digitize large amounts of analog content that has not been digitized due to lack of immediate monetization prospects or limited budget. Meanwhile, buyers can pay for the digitization and use of analog content, giving it a secondary use* as digitized content. In turn, this provides viewers with the opportunity to enjoy an array of content and helps make valuable cultural, historical, and information assets available for future generations. We will continue to expand our video and audio media archiving services to improve the efficiency and convenience of our content-related business.
*Ownership of analog content is not transferred to the user of the digitized content.
