Warehouse TERRADA’s Art Project TOKYO CANAL LINKS to Hold “Drawing Orchestra featuring Abdelkader Benchamma”
A live broadcast of a drawing Session between 8 “creators” across national boundaries
TOKYO CANAL LINKS, an art project by Warehouse TERRADA, will be holding a drawing session event by 8 artists called “Drawing Orchestra featuring Abdelkader Benchamma” from 7:30 PM on March 12th, 2021 (Fri).
This event is part of the “Drawing Orchestra” art program proposed by artist Hiraku Suzuki and designer Daijiro Ohara. French artist, Abdelkader Benchamma, a major leader of the international contemporary drawing scene, will be invited to the event as a guest, connecting Japan and France in real time. Participating artists include Abdelkader Benchamma, Hiraku Suzuki, and Daijiro Ohara, as well as Sohei Nishino, who explores the relationship between photography and drawing, performer Mineki Murata, digital media conqueror yang02, chirographer Kasetsu, and live painter Akiko Nakayama. This gathering of eight distinct “creators” of differing backgrounds will also bring together their own unique creations, and the juncture of the sights and sounds they create will help them each realize new aspects of their own works. In a world where various forms of divisions are becoming ever more apparent, this event will help transcend the bounds of distance and individuality, and connect its participants together toward a joint work of art. We hope you will enjoy this real-time drawing session as it straddles the boundaries separating Japan and France.

[About Drawing Orchestra]
“Drawing Orchestra” is a drawing session project proposed by artist Hiraku Suzuki and designer Daijiro Ohara, and it was first held on February 2, 2020 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. This avant-garde effort, which brought the “creators” of 8 different backgrounds, drawing, typography, poetry, photography, dance, performance, graffiti, and digital media, together into a shared space to “draw/write/etch/break/paint” new works into existence, received resounding praise that transcended genres. Moving forward, we will invite new “creators” from an even wider array of fields to perform, while also inviting previous participants in differing combinations to join sessions, and continue experimental activities with an ever-fluid orchestra of artists.
