Warehouse TERRADA to Sponsor Young Artist Support Project, “Future Artists Tokyo”

Warehouse TERRADA will sponsor “Future Artists Tokyo” organized by Art Tokyo Association. This is a project
to foster and promote the next generation of the art scene, collaborating with major educational institutes in
Japan.

The “Future Artists Tokyo” project aims to support young artists and curators. In order to support young artists,
Warehouse TERRADA has to date hosted “TERRADA Art Award,” which was then developed into special
sponsorship of “Asian Art Award supported by Warehouse TERRADA” in conjunction with Art Tokyo
Association. We consider it important when undertaking these initiatives to promote a future art scene
originating in Japan to the world, and realize the significance of providing opportunities to future artists and
curators of the next generation who are studying at art colleges in Japan and supporting them to create
networks on a global stage. This led to our decision to sponsor the “Future Artists Tokyo 2019” (FAT2019).
Based on our involvement in previous art awards, our aim for this award is to enhance the discovery and
support of hidden young talents.
45 students from 19 art colleges and universities will participate in FAT2019. The concept development,
artworks selection, and display setting will be conducted under the direction of a curator team comprised from
these colleges. Warehouse TERRADA will create an opportunity for new inspirations to sprout through
interaction between students beyond the border of their respective schools and faculties from across Japan.
The FAT2019 exhibition will be held in the lobby gallery of ART FAIR TOKYO 2019 (from March 7th to 10th at
Tokyo International Forum), an admission free public area of Japan’s largest international art show. Also, as a
satellite event of ART FAIR TOKYO, a special collaboration exhibition with FAT2019 will be presented at
Warehouse TERRADA’s T-ART HALL (from March 5th to 10th in Tennoz, Tokyo).
This exhibition may bring new artists and curators into the world, who will lead Japan in the future.
