Japan-Taiwan Cultural Exchange Exhibition

Art Collection Exhibition

- Sensibility at Ports of Call -

EXHIBITION

"Art Collection Exhibition" presents a selection of superb artworks from customers who have entrusted their pieces to Warehouse TERRADA's Art Storage service.
The current exhibition is in collaboration with the Taiwan Culture Center of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan, and it introduces artworks by Japanese and Taiwanese artists, which were collected by Japanese and Taiwanese art collectors.
We hope this exhibition will be able to play a role in development of cultural exchanges between Japan and Taiwan and the art field in the future.

STATEMENTThe curator of this exhibition

Yuko Hasegawa (Artistic Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo / Professor in Arts Studies and Curatorial Practices Graduate School of Global Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts)

Warehouse TERRADA can be considered a kind of farm for art. It is a place not only for storage of artworks, but also nurturing and enriching those works through restoration and display. The planned "Art Collection Exhibition" series takes a variety of approaches to presenting works owned by art collectors who have entrusted Warehouse TERRADA with their collections. The latest exhibition offers a new way of looking at the pieces on display through an intersection of viewpoints and sensitivities, represented by works of Japanese artists selected by Taiwanese collectors, and works of Taiwanese artists selected by Japanese collectors.
Both Taiwan and Japan are surrounded by the ocean and have a history of maritime trade and extensive interaction with the outside, creating a unique hybrid based on a delicate, keen sensitivity through which each has developed its own point of view. Located close to both air and sea ports, Warehouse TERRADA is uniquely positioned to present the art of today in its actual state, offering a port of call for an exchange of perspectives and sensibilities.
