WHAT CAFE to Hold Exhibition Curated by Hiroko Otake, Exploring Interrelation between Artists’ Private Activities and Their Creative Processes, Starting October 30th
WHAT CAFE, an art gallery cafe operated by Warehouse TERRADA, will present the exhibition “WHAT CAFE EXHIBITION vol.38: Gigs and Hobbies: The Everyday in Art Practice” from October 30th (Wed) to November 10th (Sun), 2024. The exhibition will be curated by artist Hiroko Otake, with curation support provided by curator Kensho Tambara.
Artists’ art practices—such as their jobs and personal interests, which may initially seem unrelated to their creative work—actually influence the artworks they create and play an important role in shaping their distinctiveness and worldview. This exhibition highlights this connection, exploring the interrelation between artists’ gigs and hobbies and their creative processes.
During the exhibition, some participating artists will occasionally be present at the venue, and various events featuring them are planned. Visitors will have opportunities to feel closer to the art through direct interactions with the artists.
