Art Gallery Cafe, WHAT CAFE to Hold the Exhibition “TOPOLOGY” with DELTA from February 10th
Focusing on artists selected by five pairs of directors in the Kanto and Kansai areas
WHAT CAFE, an art gallery cafe operated by Warehouse TERRADA, will have "WHAT CAFE EXHIBITION vol.34 WHAT CAFE x DELTA 'TOPOLOGY'" from February 10th (Sat) to February 25th (Sun), 2024.
[Overview]
WHAT CAFE will hold an exhibition, “WHAT CAFE EXHIBITION vol.34 WHAT CAFE x DELTA ‘TOPOLOGY'” in collaboration with an art project, DELTA, introducing emerging galleries, directors, and artists based in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.
For this occasion, young to mid-career directors in the Kanto and Kansai areas are grouped into five “one Kanto-one Kansai” pairs and will create five presentations under the joint direction. The title TOPOLOGY is a speculative system focusing on hidden characteristics sustained through repetitive changes. In this exhibition, collaborations between directors and artists with diversified personalities and backgrounds will be showcased. The title explains this exhibition’s composition and expresses this project’s core concept comprehensively.
While we introduce the latest and ongoing art from various perspectives, we aim to create a space where crosscutting communications can be exchanged by appreciating art expressions containing different values and ideas.
Topology
- Derived from combining the word “topo,” meaning location, and “logy,” denoting an academic field.
- It centers on the concealed properties that remain unchanged through continuous deformations of a given form or space.
- Refers to a specific phase or position in a periodic phenomenon within a cycle.
- In the context of topology, it denotes a structure or configuration assigned to sets to define the concepts of convergence or continuity.
