Though paintings and makeup are considered to be completely different from each other, there are many similarities between them. The origin of word “foundation” used for makeup comes from the world of painting, which means the ground or base of paintings. And the quality of foundation has a large effect on the entire quality of both makeup and paintings. Color materials used for makeup are made of pigment which is also used for painting, and the materials of brushes are also the same for both. The fourth session of this series will feature Mr. uchiide, the international artistic director of shu uemura, a makeup brand with the concept, “nature, science, and art,” and present the talk about “makeup and colors” with Kei Iwaizumi, Director of PIGMENT TOKYO. It will focus on the history of paintings and makeup, and similarities in techniques and materials between them, as well as function and effect of colors on makeup process from base to point. Also, Mr. uchiide will demonstrate his makeup to a famous painting, utilizing pigment in PIGMENT TOKYO, which is exclusive for this event.
