ARCHI-DEPOT MUSEUM to Hold Exhibition GAUDI QUEST

- The first time in Japan to experience actual measurement of a full-scale reproduction of the stairway in Parque Güell, a World Heritage site -

Dates: March 27th (Wed.), 2019 - June 30th (Sun.), 2019

ARCHI-DEPOT MUSEUM operated by Warehouse TERRADA will hold a special exhibition GAUDI QUEST from March 27th (Wed.), 2019 - June 30th (Sun.), 2019. (The museum will be closed from May 7th (Tue.) to May 21st (Tue.).)

The world-renowned Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí constructed buildings with local artisans based on models and sketches, so there are few blueprints of his works in spite of his popularity. This special exhibition will feature measured drawings by surveyor and doctor of architecture Hiroya Tanaka, who has been measuring and drawing Gaudí’s works in Spain over 40 years, and explain the appeal of Gaudí’s works. Many original measured drawings from Tanaka’s own collection will be exhibited for the first time in Japan such as a spectacular drawing of the bell towers of Sagrada Familia which is over 5m, a measured drawing of Parque Güell that took 8 years to complete, and an axonometric drawing of Teresian College.

Also, a full-scale reproduction of the stairway in Parque Güell, known as a World Heritage site, will be on display. Visitors will be able to retrace the experience of measurement of the exhibits by themselves and learn the effect of the optimization of the visual impression and human scale hidden in Gaudí’s works. The exhibit is designed to enable visitors to enjoy the world of Gaudí’s architectures from the viewpoint of actual measurement.
