Art Gallery Cafe, WHAT CAFE to Host Exhibition in Conjunction with TERRADA ART AWARD

Exploring the "now" of 2015 award winners, ten years after their selection

WHAT CAFE, an art gallery cafe operated by Warehouse TERRADA, will host WHAT CAFE EXHIBITION vol. 44, "From here to eternity: where TERRADA ART AWARD 2015 recipients are now" from January 10th (Sat) to January 25th (Sun), 2026.

TERRADA ART AWARD was established in 2014 to support emerging artists. Similarly, since its opening in 2020, WHAT CAFE has created opportunities to showcase and sell the works of young talent. To coincide with TERRADA ART AWARD 2025 Finalist Exhibition, WHAT CAFE will host a related exhibition that embodies the shared mission of both initiatives.

This exhibition will showcase and sell works by 15 award-winning and selected artists from TERRADA ART AWARD 2015, highlighting their artistic progression and the deepening of their practice since receiving the award. By displaying current works alongside their award-winning pieces and other works from that era, the show traces their evolution leading up to the present day. Additionally, the exhibition will feature the artists’ reflections on their award-winning experiences ten years later through recent questionnaires. These personal insights will illuminate the artists’ visions for their future careers and their thoughts on the development of the award.

TERRADA ART AWARD 2025 is a contemporary art award designed to discover emerging artists. To discover artists who can play an active role on the world stage, the AWARD jury panel, with an international perspective and a deep understanding of contemporary art, has selected Daisuke Kuroda, Yuki Kobayashi, Sakura Koretsune, Yuske Taninaka, and Claire Fujita as the five finalists. These artists will further develop the exhibition plans they submitted for the award and present unique solo exhibitions, featuring new and unreleased works, at TERRADA ART AWARD 2025 Finalist Exhibition.
