Warehouse TERRADA to Open TERRADA ART STUDIO Kyoto on November 1st (Fri), 2024 on the Kyoto City University of Arts Campus

This new facility, just a six-minute walk from Kyoto Station, is located on the Kyoto City University of Arts campus, which relocated in October 2023.
Kyoto is home to numerous institutions specializing in arts education and harbors many artists who continue their endeavors post-graduation, highlighting the demand for creative workspaces. The facility provides 31 studio spaces in two types: private and partitioned rooms. A communal area and art storage are also available. The communal area will serve as a venue for events where studio artists, collectors, and enthusiasts can connect. The facility supports artists in both creative activities and networking.

To commemorate the facility’s opening, we are offering two special campaigns in collaboration with the adjacent art storage facility, TERRADA ART STORAGE Kyoto. Depending on the terms of the contract, users will be eligible for a limited period of free usage.

Warehouse TERRADA has been involved in the art storage business since the 1970s and has worked alongside the local community on area development through art. We have expanded our initiatives to include the operation of museum and gallery complexes utilizing warehouse spaces and hosting collaborative events in conjunction with international art fairs. In 2015, we opened TERRADA ART STUDIO Tennoz, which features 17 studio rooms and a common area. Additionally, we organize the TERRADA ART AWARD, a contemporary art award aimed at discovering emerging artists, and operate WHAT CAFE, showcasing and selling works by young artists, among other activities focused on supporting artists’ careers.

We will contribute to promoting culture and the arts in Kyoto, leveraging the expertise in local revitalization and art initiatives that we have cultivated in Tennoz, Tokyo. Furthermore, we strive to foster the continued development of the Japanese art market by providing a space where artists can freely create while also encouraging interaction between the local community, students, and industry professionals.
