The event to gather the forerunners of art publications
TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR
The TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR started in 2009 and since has grown to be one of the leading art book fairs in Asia. This year, the main venue has been relocated to Warehouse TERRADA in Tennoz Isle. Approximately 300 exhibitors including publishers, galleries, artists and zine makers will gather and celebrate art publications.
The TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR has been featuring a country or region as the “Guest Country” every year to introduce the publishing culture of the regions. This year, the fair spotlights Asia: unique art books by independent publishers and self-published artists books and zines in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore will be presented.
Last year, the fair co-founded “Steidl Book Award Japan,” with Steidl, the German art publisher known for the film “How to Make a Book with Steidl;” the winning artists will hold an event in this year’s fair. Besides talks and symposiums to discuss the fascinating aspects of art publications, neighboring venues such as Yamamoto Gendai and other galleries as well as PIGMENT, a traditional art supply store, will also hold related events. It will be an ideal occasion to enjoy the various presentation of art in various forms.
