ART OSAKA 2018
A contemporary art fair, hotel style
ART OSAKA 2018 will be held from Saturday, July 7 to Sunday, July 8 at the Hotel Granvia Osaka. Marking its 16th year, ART OSAKA is Japan’s largest art fair that focuses on contemporary art. An entire floor of the hotel will be reserved for the fair, with 54 galleries from Japan and abroad turning 68 rooms into exhibition booths.
As a new experiment this year, a special “U-35 Section” will introduce noteworthy young artists aged 35 and under in solo exhibition format, with additional solo exhibitions introducing artists in the “Exhibition PLUS” section. Visitors can also vote on their favorite works for the fair’s “Best Presentation Award.”
And Masahiro Yasugi, head researcher at the National Museum of Art, Osaka and curator of the New Wave: Japanese Contemporary Art of the 1980s exhibition to be held at that museum from November, will offer a talk entitled “Reconsideration: Art Scene in 1980s” (in Japanese only).
