Art Fair Tokyo is back this year!

It will coincide with the Asian Art Award 2018 supported by Warehouse TERRADA

0206

Art Fair Tokyo 2018 will be held from Thursday, March 8 to Sunday, March 11, at Tokyo International Forum. This year marks the thirteenth year of Japan’s largest international art fair that promotes the country’s art market and art scene domestically and on the world stage. Works from a wide range of galleries will be exhibited, from antiques and crafts to modern and contemporary art. Artworks will be available for sale, while special exhibitions and related events are also planned.

This year’s theme is “Art Is Life”. When viewing the world through art, people of all races, occupations, and social statuses can understand one another and share their values, and this realization leads to the message that “we are living side by side with art”. Also being unveiled this year is a new logo designed by Yoshihisa Tanaka, part of the artist duo Nerhol. It features a simple design that combines the letters A, F, and T backed with shadows. With this much feeling behind the logo, it expresses through design how the unity among the people, objects, and ideas involved in the Art Fair provide the support to keep the event going.

In addition, the four finalists were recently announced for “Asian Art Award 2018 supported by Warehouse TERRADA,” an award sponsored by Art Fair Tokyo organizer Art Tokyo Association with special support from Warehouse TERRADA. This contemporary art award was established last year with the intention of assisting artists who show potential for international success. The award will be presented at Art Fair Tokyo 2018 venue on March 8. This year’s award presentation has been moved to March to coincide with Art Fair Tokyo 2018, and like last year the finalists’ works will be exhibited at the TERRADA ART COMPLEX. This year’s finalists are Aki Inomata, Takehito Koganezawa, Motohiro Tomii, and Masahiro Wada. The finalists will display new or recently-completed works at TERRADA ART COMPLEX in Tennoz Isle in March 2018. The Grand Prize winner will receive1,000,000 yen along with art studio space rental and opportunities to present their winning works at an exhibition in Shanghai and at Art Fair Tokyo 2019.
